3-3 Component Channel Diagram

Systems architects use a component channel diagram (CChD) to display all components’ channels of a system. CChD is the third fundamental diagram to achieve structure-behavior coalescence.

3-3-1 Channels of Components

A channel is a model for agent communication via message passing. As shown in Figure 3-14, a message may be sent over a channel, and another agent is able to receive messages sent over a channel it has a reference to.

A channel may contain several input parameters (e.g. i1, i2) and output parameters (e.g. o1, o2), as shown in Figure 3-15.
